09b-Comments on paper draft

Your assignment was to write about the methods Sherlock Holmes uses to solve the case in The Sign of Four.  You were to include as many components of Holmes method as you could and cite specific examples from the story to back up your points.  In the revision due Saturday, you are to include MLA in-text citations (author space page).  I am not yet requiring a works-cited page although you can include one if you want.  

In class on Thurs Feb 7th, read a fellow student’s draft and use the comment funcion to make suggestions aboout how the paper might be improved.  Be specific and indicate whether each component of Holmes method the author discusses is clearly described and backed up with specific examples from the text.  Also note any phrases you have difficulty understanding or points needing development and clarification.  Finally, make suggestions for components of Holmes method the author could add.  Then discuss each others drafts orally and talk about whether you consider Holmes’ method or methods scientific.  In the conclusion of the revision due Saturday you will take a position on whether Holmes’ method or methods are scientific and why.
